Frequent or Long Cycles Can Mean Your AC Needs Repair
If you notice that your air conditioner turns on frequently or runs much longer than usual, it is time to have it checked. These symptoms can have several causes, and in some cases a faulty thermostat is the culprit.
Low refrigerant is another possible cause. If refrigerant is leaking, the system cannot cool your home properly, so the AC runs longer or starts more often trying to keep up. An oversized system can also short cycle, turning on and off before it finishes a full cycle.
Reduced Airflow Is a Cause for Concern
You should also schedule air conditioning repair if you notice less air coming from your vents. Weak airflow can come from a clogged filter, a blockage or leak in your ductwork, or a problem with the blower or other components. A technician can track down the cause.

As your AC cools, it also pulls moisture out of the air, so it effectively works as a dehumidifier. If the air inside your house feels more humid than usual, your AC may not be working properly. A repair visit can help you find and fix the problem.

If it is warm, there could be a refrigerant leak or another issue. Try replacing the air filter first, and if that does not help, schedule service with your HVAC contractor.
